About this Riding
The urban centre of Vancouver generally has been friendly territory for the Liberals over the years, so Jody Wilson-Raybould was cruising for re-election — until the SNC-Lavalin affair blew everything up. The figure at the centre of that story, Wilson-Raybould has raised her personal profile enough that she has a chance to pull off the rare feat of being elected as an Independent candidate. She might be helped by the mixed election results in the riding over the last two elections. Wilson-Raybould won comfortably in 2015, but the NDP and Conservative candidates still managed a quarter of the vote. The riding was a three-way race in 2011. Depending on how the vote splits, there’s potential for Vancouver Granville to become a four-cornered contest this time — meaning it could go in any direction.
