About this Riding
If the Liberals are banking on holding any seats in Alberta, Edmonton Centre should be right at the top of the list. It was where Anne McLellan used to win her seat for the party under Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin and it has a significant number of progressive voters — the Alberta NDP won a majority of ballots cast within the boundaries of this riding in the April provincial election. Though it was a close win for Liberal Randy Boissonnault in 2015, the Liberals will be looking to hoover up a chunk of the vote that went to the third-place NDP in that election. If the Liberals can manage to secure the progressive vote in the riding, they should be able to hold off the Conservatives’ James Cumming in his second run against Boissonnault.
