About this Riding
Since 1957, the riding anchored by the city of Peterborough has voted with the party that formed government in 19 of 20 general elections — making it the quintessential bellwether riding and an obvious target for the Conservatives. The Liberals are boosted by the presence of a cabinet minister — Maryam Monsef, minister for women and gender equality — but they won the riding by a relatively modest margin of just under nine points in 2015. Because of its history and how it ranks on the list of winnable seats for both parties, whoever wins here has a very good chance of taking power in Ottawa.
